Sir
George Cox’s collection of original aircraft manufacturers’ models
represents a miniature history of aircraft design. It encompasses models
from the 1920s through to the present time, but the collection is
particularly strong in its representation of planes from the 1950s to the
1970s: a time when so many new concepts were explored. As well as
encompassing many of the most significant planes to have gone into service
with airlines or armed forces, the collection also includes many prototype
and experimental aircraft, as well as numerous project models representing
design proposals which never saw the light of day. |
